Training Tomorrows
Engineers

The Seaking Group vision is to be 1st in class. That means that we as a company shall continue to maintain investment in our people through continuous input, into ongoing training programmes. One of our major drivers is specifically project driven to ensure that we comply with all statutory Health and safety issues in regard to our personnel. We are building a service squad which will require a level of commitment to specialist training such as Power generation, Radar, fire detection and telephone communications systems etc.

Our junior managers receive ongoing training in project management, administration, communications, leadership, quality assurance, health safety & environmental issues. The Seaking Group manpower strategy requires us to look at demographic age groups. Indeed we see an industry wide problem of aging engineers. We therefore have a programme in place to bring into the company younger qualified Marine and Industrial electrical engineers. This programme selects from Direct job applicants or via training Providers like The Mersey Engineering College North West and TTE ltd based in Ellesmere Port. The annual intake of Electrical Apprentices by the Seaking Group is between 2 to 4 new apprentices every year. Normally by the end of March we will have received a number of applications , from which we can make our final selection. These candidates will be invited to go through a 30 minute panel interview process. Successful candidates will normally be informed by letter within two weeks.

They will start their employment in September Our sponsored apprentices then complete their level 3 extended NVQ portfolio whilst working within the shipyard and our workshops gaining invaluable experience. We set a programme of work for the Apprentices, which enable them to see every aspect of marine engineering during which time they will be regularly assessed by nominated Assessors.

Provided that the apprentices show the right attitude, application and willingness to succeed The Apprentices may be selected to further attend day release to College to take additional training which enables them to attain a BTEC Electrical Engineering. The Seaking Group will support its Apprentices in their career development and would expect that the individuals should be prepared to continue as far as they are capable, to HNC /HND.
